Description

Purple deadnettle is a winter annual weed with egg-shaped to triangular-shaped oppositely arranged leaves with bluntly-toothed margins. The leaves can also appear reddish or purplish at late maturity in the spring months. It also has a square-shaped stem. Purple deadnettle is often confused with henbit, also in the Lamiaceae family, and requires close inspection of the leaves and flowers for identification.
