Description

There are several of species of purslanes commonly found in lawns and landscape beds but common purslane and pink purslane are often the most common. Purslanes can be identified by their succulent stems and leaves and prostrate growth habit. Their fleshy, succulent stems can help in distinguishing them from spurges, which exude a milky sap when cut, whereas purslanes do not. Their fruits are capsules which split open along a horizontal line to release small black seeds.
